Board Leaders Seminar on Non-Profit Board Service

April 21, 2016
Babson College, 231 Forest Street, Babson Park, Massachusetts

Summary

The specific topics will be the responsibilities and requirements of serving on a nonprofit board of directors. In this effort, we have joined with the Boston Foundation and the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network. The morning will be comprised of three panel sessions led by a moderator. Participants will be Board Leader members and partners from KPMG, Goodwin Procter and Pearl Meyer. The content will be robust and reference hands-on experiences. We will discuss what you need to know prior to joining a board, then what makes a quality director. Reading and understanding financials including revenue recognition, regulatory compliance and recognizing risk will be a significant focus. Other topics will include conducting CEO and board evaluation as well as recruitment. The board's responsibility in fund-raising, crisis management and minimizing board and organizational liability will also be covered. Carl Metzger, a partner in Goodwin Procter’s Business Litigation Group and leader of the firm’s Risk Management & Insurance practice, will be a panelist.
