Goodwin Procter Attorney Wins 2006 Burton Award for Legal Achievement

BOSTON, June 12, 2006 —Goodwin Procter LLP today announced that Alyssa A. Grikscheit, partner in the firm's Business Law Department, has been selected to receive the prestigious Burton Award for Legal Achievement, which honors excellence in legal writing.

Grikscheit won this award for an article she wrote for Latin American Law & Business Report last June called "Private Equity in Latin America: Strategies for Success." The article discusses the renewed interest in private equity investing in Latin America, as well as strategies and factors that should be considered when investing in this market.

Based in New York, Grikscheit has extensive experience in private equity, mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, restructurings, securities law, licensing and general corporate law. She has particular expertise in international transactions involving Latin America and Europe.

The Burton Awards are dedicated to the refinement and enrichment of writing in the legal profession. The program honors lawyers and law students who write clearly, concisely and precisely. The submissions, nominated by managing partners of law firms and law school deans, include articles published over the past year. The program this year selected only 30 recipients of the award from submissions received from the 1000 largest law firms in the country.
