Goodwin Procter Named as a Top Place to Work by Boston Globe

BOSTON , Nov. 10, 2008 – Goodwin Procter LLP has been named one of the “Top Places to Work in Massachusetts.” The firm was ranked #30 on the overall list and #8 on the “Top 25 Large Workplaces” list, which appeared in the Sunday edition of The Boston Globe.

The rankings are featured in The Globe 100’s Top Places to Work magazine, which debuted an employee-based survey project that included 600 qualified companies. The rankings were calculated purely on the basis of employee responses. The report can be found at boston.com/topworkplaces.

“We are proud to receive this honor in the Globe’s inaugural survey,” said Regina M. Pisa, chairman and managing partner of Goodwin Procter. “This recognition reflects the collaborative efforts across our firm to create an environment where our employees can build careers that foster professional growth while providing the very best legal counsel to our clients every day.”

“We have long understood that our people are our most important asset,” said Pisa. “Consequently, the firm devotes considerable resources to recruiting, training and retaining its lawyers and staff. Goodwin Procter hires talented, motivated people committed to a culture based on teamwork. It believes that every attorney and staff member deserves a supportive, meritocratic environment in which people of all backgrounds are given the opportunity to excel and thrive.”

Goodwin Procter believes strongly in its obligations as a corporate citizen and is dedicated to community service. Through its longstanding and extensive pro bono program, Goodwin Procter encourages its legal staff to assist those unable to afford legal representation.

The publisher of The Boston Globe, Steve Ainsley, stated, “All the companies included in the Globe 100’s Top Places to Work deserve a great deal of recognition. It’s clear that they value their employees and make it a priority to create a positive workplace.”

Produced by the same team that compiles the 21-year-old Globe 100 report of the best performing public companies in Massachusetts, the “Top Places to Work” recognizes the most progressive companies in the state based on employee opinions about company leadership, compensation and training, diversity/inclusion, career development, family-friendly flexibility, and values and ethics. Private companies and nonprofits as well as publicly-held businesses were included in the analysis.

The rankings in the Globe 100’s Top Places to Work are based on survey information collected by Workplace Dynamics, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention, from more than 120,000 employees at 600 Massachusetts organizations. This marks the first time that a Globe 100 report honors private as well as publicly-held organizations.
