Goodwin Procter Recognized As One of New York City's "Best Places to Work" in Crain's New York Business Survey

BOSTON, December 7, 2010 – Goodwin Procter LLP, a national Am Law 50 firm, was named one of the “Best Places to Work in New York City” by Crain’s New York Business for the second year in a row.  Goodwin Procter was one of just 50 employers selected for the list by the publication, and one of only six law firms chosen, based on surveys of more than 13,000 employees across New York City.

Crain’s analyzed a variety of survey data from businesses that provide a rewarding work experience for their employees to determine the ranking.  The publication cited the firm’s broad commitment to fostering personal and professional growth, as evidenced by its more than 200 training programs on subjects including developing project management and leadership skills and a lunchtime lecture series presenting speakers on topics ranging from Chinese-American cooking to the art of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

“We’re excited to be recognized again by Crain’s with this significant honor,” said Albert J. Solecki, Jr., chair of Goodwin Procter’s New York office.  “Despite the tough economic environment, we’ve remained committed to providing challenging work assignments, innovative professional development opportunities and unique community-building initiatives for all of our employees here.”

Goodwin Procter’s New York office conducts a national practice involving high-stakes litigation matters and sophisticated corporate transactions.  The office’s litigation practice assists clients in matters involving intellectual property, white collar crime, products liability, securities, general commercial disputes, and labor and employment issues.  Goodwin Procter’s corporate lawyers focus on transactional work involving private equity, real estate capital markets, financial services, securities and corporate finance, technology and life sciences, and financial restructuring.

To determine the list, Crain’s conducted 13,131 surveys of employees in New York City.  Scores from employees, who answered a confidential 76-question survey, were combined with scores from a survey of the employers, which included questions about benefits and policies.
