Joseph A. Piacquad – In Memoriam

Goodwin Procter is mourning the death of its partner Joseph A. Piacquad, an accomplished labor and employment lawyer who practiced in the firm’s Boston office for over 15 years.

A graduate of Colgate University (magna cum laude) and Harvard Law School (cum laude), Joe was an expert on the interaction between management and unions and represented our clients before the Department of Labor, the National Labor Relations Board and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.

Joe was a subject matter expert on employment aspects of non-compete, trade secret, fiduciary duty and tortious interference law and edited the state law sections for the New England states for the widely utilized ABA Treatises on these topics. He was exceptional at helping our clients resolve the thorny labor and employment issues that inevitably arise in complex corporate transactions.

A bright, funny and compassionate man, Joe loved his work because it allowed him to interact daily with people from all walks of life. He worked very closely with clients, often speaking with them several times a day to help resolve a particularly contentious dispute. A gifted mentor, Joe was committed to the development of the younger lawyers at the firm.

As much as Joe loved his work, his true passion was his family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.

We will miss him.
