Goodwin Procter partner and Asia Practice chair Yash Rana was recently named “M&A Lawyer of the Year” at the 2012 Asia Pacific M&A Atlas Awards.
The awards, bestowed annually since 2007 by Global M&A Network, recognize top achievers from the Asia Pacific merger and acquisition deal communities. Winners are selected independently based on identifiable deal performance metrics.
Rana, who heads Goodwin’s Hong Kong office, was recognized for regional deal activity including his work advising DST Global on its follow up investment in the Alibaba Group and TA Associates on its buyout of satellite provider SpeedCast. He was the only lawyer individually honored at the awards.
This award adds to the recognition received for the firm’s significant transactional work in Asia over the past year:
- DealMakers Monthly voted Goodwin 2012 “law firm of the year” in the private equity and M&A spaces in Hong Kong.
- Asian Legal Business called Goodwin “one to watch” among law firms in Asia in 2012 and selected the $1.6 billion consortium investment in Alibaba as a finalist for its 2012 “deal of the year.”
- India Business Law Journal named Goodwin a “leading law firm” in India for the fifth consecutive year (2008-2012).
Rana accepted the award at the annual ceremony in Hong Kong.
