Goodwin Procter, a leading Am Law 50 and Global 50 law firm, announced today that Shane Brun has joined the firm as a partner in its IP Litigation Group in its San Francisco office. Brun comes to Goodwin from K&L Gates, where he was a partner in that firm’s San Francisco office.
Brun is a PTO-registered patent litigator with a background in industrial engineering and semiconductor manufacturing. He has extensive experience representing major technology companies, both as plaintiffs and defendants, in patent litigation and other intellectual property and technology-related matters. His IP practice involves a wide range of technologies, including Internet security, computer networking, wireless communications, microlithography, plasma displays, optical alignment, inspection systems and digital imaging. Brun has a national practice and regularly represents clients before the International Trade Commission (ITC) and U.S. District Courts in California, Texas and Delaware.
“We are thrilled Shane has decided to bring his broad and deep experience as a successful IP litigator and in-house counsel to Goodwin,” said Douglas Kline, chair of Goodwin’s IP Litigation Group. “His background advising leading companies on their most critical IP matters will have an immediate impact on our ability to provide the highest-quality client service.”
Brun has also served as in-house counsel to public technology companies NBC Internet and OpenTV. He represented these companies in M&A transactions and in the formation of strategic partnerships; negotiated a broad range of commercial agreements, including licensing technology and intellectual property rights; procured patent rights for company products and services; advised company executives on regulatory issues, SEC filings and other public disclosures; oversaw human resources and employment matters; and hired and managed outside counsel.
“Shane’s expertise in sophisticated intellectual property matters will immediately elevate our IP litigation capability in California,” said Bradley Bugdanowitz, chair of Goodwin’s San Francisco office.
Brun is admitted to practice in California, as well as before U.S. District Courts in California, Texas and Delaware. He is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. He received his B.S. from the University of Arkansas and his J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of the Law. He can be reached at email@example.com or (415) 733-6074.
Brun is the sixth partner to join Goodwin Procter’s IP Litigation Group over the past two months.
