Goodwin Appellate Litigation partner David Zimmer won a ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court last week holding that the government must comply strictly with the requirement that immigrants receive detailed notices about their deportation hearings. The win will allow Goodwin client Augsto Niz-Chavez, a Guatemalan national and the primary caretaker and breadwinner for his three young children, to apply for cancellation of removal and potentially impacts thousands of other noncitizens who are long-time U.S. residents.
