Jaime Santos Named a Thought Leader by Corporate Counsel’s Women, Influence & Power in Law Awards

Professionals

Goodwin partner Jaime Santos has been recognized by Corporate Counsel’s Women, Influence & Power in Law Awards 2021 in the Thought Leadership category. The annual awards honor trailblazing general counsel, in-house leaders and law firm partners who have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in law.

Santos has made advancing the empowerment of women lawyers a hallmark of her legal career. She has been a central figure in efforts to prevent and address harassment and bias within federal and state judiciaries, testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee and working collaboratively with judiciaries to reform their harassment policies and reporting mechanisms. She has also engaged the legal community regarding issues of gender equity, diversity, and inclusion. She helped found a social network of more than 14,000 women who follow the Twitter handle @ladylawyerdiary and tweet under the hashtag #LadyLawyerDiaries and has built informal networks of women appellate lawyers in DC who provide advice and support to each other and support one another’s business-development efforts. She also regularly writes and speaks at law schools, conferences, and on panels and podcasts about the challenges faced by women appellate lawyers and appellate lawyers of color and what lawyers should be doing to remove the barriers faced by these attorneys.

Santos is a partner in Goodwin’s Supreme Court and Appellate Litigation and ERISA Litigation practices. Her work focuses on appellate matters and complex civil litigation in federal courts, with extensive experience litigating ERISA, intellectual property, constitutional, and product cases. Santos has presented a dozen oral arguments, including appeals in 6 of the 13 federal circuits. She also maintains an active pro bono practice and has received awards from Goodwin and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights for her commitment to pro bono civil rights work.

In addition to her practice, Santos serves on the MacArthur Justice Center Supreme Court & Appellate Advisory Board, the National Women’s Law Center’s Leadership Advisory Council, and the Law360 Appellate Editorial Advisory Board. Recently, she has been recognized for excellence by Benchmark Litigation’s 40 & Under Hot List, The Legal 500 United States, and Law360’s Rising Stars.

Santos will be honored at the Women, Influence & Power in Law Conference on October 7.
