Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Names Omer Tene a Go To Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Lawyer

Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly has named partner Omer Tene a Go To Lawyer for Cybersecurity & Data Privacy in 2022. This award honors exceptional Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practitioners in the Massachusetts legal community who have demonstrated innovation and excellence in their practice.

Tene is a partner in Goodwin’s Data, Privacy, & Cybersecurity practice. For the past two decades, he has advised governments, policymakers, regulators, international organizations, and businesses on strategy, governance, and compliance issues on privacy, cybersecurity and law, and technology.

Tene was previously the Vice President and Chief Knowledge Officer at the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the principal professional organization for privacy lawyers and professionals worldwide. He was the IAPP’s leading subject matter expert and led the organization’s creation and distribution of content, including its research, publications, programming, and external affairs. Tene is currently a Westin Emeritus Fellow at the IAPP; an Affiliate Scholar at the Stanford Center for Internet and Society; and Senior Fellow at the Future of Privacy Forum.

In addition to his practice, Tene is co-editor of Consumer Privacy, a Cambridge University Press handbook about the opportunities and challenges of the new data community. He has also authored articles on privacy and data protection appearing in the law and technology reviews of Yale, Stanford, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, George Mason, University of North Carolina, Fordham, and Ohio State, among other colleges and universities, and has been quoted by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Politico, and dozens of other media outlets.
