In December 2006, Chris Reid, a former Goodwin Procter litigation associate, returned to Goodwin Procter to present a lunchtime presentation about his experiences working on US DOJ programs in Iraq in 2004 and 2005. In particular, he provided a fascinating discussion about the time he spent heading the Regime Crimes Liaison's Office, an Embassy task force created by President Bush to assist the Iraqi government in the formation of a tribunal to investigate and try Saddam Hussein and former regime members accused of crimes against humanity, genocide and war crimes. Before the Attorney General appointed him Regime Crimes Liaison, Reid taught human rights to Ministry of Justice officials in the Baghdad area, and then opened a field office in Northern Iraq investigating the former regime's crimes against the Kurds.
