For the eleventh consecutive year Goodwin has been named a leading international firm for India-related work by the India Business Law Journal (“IBLJ”). The 13th edition of the annual report highlights the achievements and activities of law firms around the world, focusing on transactions and cases with an India connection. Goodwin has been ranked every year since the Hong Kong office opened in 2008.
The IBLJ lists Goodwin in its top “Key Players” category, noting its “strong performance on India-related private equity matters.” Partner Yash Rana, international legal consultant Abhishek Krishnan and associate Ananth Lakshman were praised for their impressive “client focus,” as one client was quoted as saying “They’re extremely responsive, incredibly commercial, but still with a keen sense of the issues and rules that are at play in each of our transactions.” The publication also cited the firm’s representation of Hillhouse Capital during their funding of food delivery company Swiggy, and Falcon Edge Capital in the purchase of series C preferred shares and common shares of OFB Tech.
IBLJ’s analysis was based on rigorous research, editorial experience and intensive consultation with leading corporate counsel and Indian law firms. In April 2019, the IBLJ also named Rana to its 2019 International A List recognizing top international India experts and in December 2018, its sister publication China Business Law Journal (“CBLJ”) named Rana to its 2018 A List China’s Elite 50 Lawyers (Foreign Firm).
