Goodwin has recruited Jonathan Hecht as a Complex Litigation + Dispute Resolution partner in Washington, DC, from the US Securities and Exchange Commission where he spent nearly 11 years in roles including a four-year tenure as assistant chief counsel of its Division of Enforcement. He tells CDR leaving the SEC “was not an easy decision – I’m really proud of the work I did over the course of the past 11 years in public service and what the division and the agency accomplished during that tenure”. “That said, it was really time for me to look at new challenges and opportunities – I had been in private practice for 12 years before [joining the] government and had always given a thought to going back” he says, describing his move to Goodwin as “the right opportunity, at the right place and at the right time,” on account of its “excellent platform [and] impressive roster of clients”. Effective on the same day, Goodwin promoted 58 lawyers to partner.
