California Company Hit with $128 Million Fine Over Pot Gummies (SFGate)

A California pot company has been hit with a $128 million fine for illegally producing millions of cannabis gummies. Cannabis co-chair Jennifer Fisher in San Francisco, said the $128 million is probably the biggest cannabis fine in state history. “I would be surprised if there was a judgment bigger than this — I’ve never seen it in my practice,” Fisher told SFGate. When the investigators made an unannounced visit to the company’s location in nearby Chatsworth, they found evidence that the facility was receiving Kushy Punch products from the illegal second facility. This meant the company was bringing “illegally manufactured product back into the regulated market,” the Department of Cannabis Control said. Fisher said this was an unusual arrangement, compared to the usual diversion of legally produced cannabis products into the illegal market.
