Daily Journal has named partner Jennifer Fisher a Top Woman Lawyer in California for the second year in a row. The annual series recognizes elite women lawyers in the state who have achieved significant victories for clients, given back to their communities, and are considered leaders in their respective fields.
Fisher is co-chair of Goodwin’s Cannabis practice, a partner in the firm’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice, and she is the head of Goodwin’s Litigation department for Northern California. She focuses her practice on litigation, including commercial litigation and white collar defense, and on cannabis law. Fisher is known as the go-to legal advisor for all types of cannabis companies, from large multi-state operators to emerging startups, and she also represents some of the leading investors in the space. She advises cannabis clients on strategic business decisions and transactions, regulatory compliance, and litigation matters.
Daily Journal recognized Fisher’s longstanding commitment to pro bono legal work and community service, with a particular focus on social and criminal justice reform. She serves pro bono as legal advisor to the Last Prisoner Project, a nonprofit organization seeking restorative justice for those who have faced cannabis criminalization under outdated laws. Fisher has been honored for outstanding pro bono service by the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and the Bar Association of San Francisco Volunteer Legal Services Program.
An industry-wide leader, Fisher has previously been named to The American Lawyer’s Trailblazers West, Cannabis Law Report’s Global Top 200 Cannabis Lawyers, and Mg Magazine’s Ladies Who Litigate list. She was recognized by Chambers USA for Cannabis Law: Western United States in 2022-23, as a Leading Lawyer for Cannabis by The Legal 500 United States in 2021-23, and she was selected as the Cannabis Lawyer of the Year by the Cannabis Dealmakers Summit in 2019.
Fisher has also been recognized for her work in Criminal Defense: White Collar in 2021-23 by The Best Lawyers in America, and was named a Recommended Lawyer by The Legal 500 United States in 2021 for White Collar and Criminal Defense.
