Goodwin Welcomes Michelle Blum to its Orange County Office, Strengthening Consumer Financial Services and Data Litigation Bench

Goodwin today announced that Michelle Blum has joined the firm as a partner in its Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, further enhancing the firm’s consumer financial services, data protection, and consumer protection litigation capabilities in Southern California.

Michelle Blum's practice focuses on defending federal court Consumer Protection Act litigation, as well as similar litigation under companion state laws. In addition, Michelle advises clients regarding Consumer Protection Act compliance and data security issues.

Over nearly two decades, Michelle has served as national coordinating counsel for consumer litigation brought under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act for Experian, one of the three national credit reporting agencies in the United States. She has overseen litigation matters filed in all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

“Michelle brings exactly the kind of deep, hands-on experience our clients need as consumer protection, credit reporting, and data-driven litigation risks continue to evolve,” said John Vogt, partner in Goodwin’s Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice based in Orange County. “Her longstanding role as national coordinating counsel, combined with her practical judgment and command of consumer credit statutes, strengthens our ability to defend clients across the full lifecycle of consumer and data-related disputes. Michelle is a natural fit for our team and our industry-immersed approach.”

Michelle is an active member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers Orange County and the Orange County Bar Association.

Michelle’s arrival builds on Goodwin’s recent launch of its Orange County office, anchored by the addition of leading cybersecurity, privacy, and technology litigators Richard Grabowski, John Vogt, and Ryan Ball. Together, the team reinforces Goodwin’s commitment to serving clients in one of the country’s most dynamic hubs for technology, consumer financial services, and complex litigation.

Goodwin’s global Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice represents clients across all industries in their most critical disputes, from bet-the-company trials to regulatory enforcement actions. The practice is known for its industry-immersed approach, combining deep sector knowledge with elite trial skills.
