Three Goodwin Partners Named to Cybersecurity Docket’s Incident Response Elite for 2026

Partners Kaitlin Betancourt, Peter (Pete) Marta, and Jud Welle have been named to Cybersecurity Docket’s Incident Response Elite for 2026. The list recognizes the “best incident response lawyers in the industry.”

Kaitlin is a partner in Goodwin’s Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice and a member of the firm’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution group. She focuses her practice on cybersecurity law and compliance and AI strategy and governance. Her experience spans cyber incident response and preparedness, cybersecurity governance and regulatory compliance, corporate transactions, internal investigations, and advising companies on artificial intelligence governance and risk management. Kaitlin regularly advises clients at the C-suite and board level on navigating complex cybersecurity matters and strategically approaching the responsible implementation of AI.

Pete is a partner in Goodwin’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution group and Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice. He advises global organizations at the C-suite and board level on all aspects of responding to complex cybersecurity incidents as well as on cyber and data risk management and governance, proactive cyber incident readiness, insider threats, regulatory strategy, and government and internal investigations. Leveraging decades of experience in government and the private sector, Pete helps clients navigate the rapidly evolving cybersecurity threat landscape, respond to a broad range of crises, and find practical solutions to complex problems.

A former federal cyber and national security prosecutor with nearly 25 years’ experience, Jud counsels companies on technology, cybersecurity, and AI risk. He has investigated, prosecuted, and conducted trials in cyber and national security cases as a US federal prosecutor, delivered risk management and technical services as a consultant, and overseen cyber and data protection risk management functions as an in-house lawyer. Jud helps clients responsibly develop, deploy, and protect critical information systems and assets while addressing a growing set of legal, business, and reputational risks and challenges. This marks the second time Jud has been named to the list.
