Winfried Carli Appointed Chair of Goodwin's Munich Office

Goodwin has appointed Winfried Carli as Chair of its Munich office. He succeeds Dr. Jan Schinköth, who has played a pivotal role in establishing and shaping the office since its launch in 2022.

Winfried Carli is widely recognised as one of Germany’s leading finance lawyers and is consistently top ranked by major legal publications, including Chambers (Band 1), Legal500 (“Hall of Fame”), JUVE (“frequently recommended”) and WirtschaftsWoche (“Legal All Star”). He advises national and international private equity and venture capital investors, as well as corporates, on complex — often cross-border — financings and sophisticated transaction structures.

“Munich is a key hub for financing and private equity in Germany,” said Winfried Carli. “We have built an experienced, highly regarded team with deep transactional expertise and strong international connectivity. My focus for the year ahead is on further strengthening this platform and supporting clients on complex acquisition financings and strategic growth initiatives.”

Under Jan Schinköth’s leadership, Goodwin has established a strong market presence in Munich, significantly expanding its advisory capabilities across private equity, venture capital and investment funds. The firm’s move into larger premises last year further underscores its long-term commitment to the Munich market.

This leadership transition reinforces the firm’s ambition to continue growing its finance practice in Germany and to further strengthen its position as a trusted adviser to private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies.
