Brian Pastuszenski Joins Goodwin’s Securities Litigation & SEC Enforcement Team in New York City

Goodwin Procter is pleased to announce that it has expanded its Securities Litigation & SEC Enforcement practice in New York City with the relocation of practice co-chair Brian Pastuszenski from Goodwin’s Boston office. With approximately 100 attorneys in its Securities Litigation & White Collar Defense Group, Goodwin has one of the largest practices in the country defending clients in securities class action, shareholder derivative, and other shareholder litigation, SEC investigations and enforcement proceedings, and related litigation and regulatory matters across the United States.

Pastuszenski is recognized as one of the country’s premier securities litigation defense lawyers. Among his other awards, Pastuszenski has been selected as one of the top 500 lawyers in the United States (Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America) and as a Securities Litigation MVP (Securities Law360). His practice focuses on the defense of securities class action and shareholder derivative litigation, SEC and other regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings, and the insurance and indemnification issues that these matters typically involve. For the past several years Pastuszenski has been lead defense counsel for the country’s largest mortgage lender in securities class action and individual institutional investor litigation arising out of the credit crisis.

Richard M. Strassberg, co-chair of Goodwin’s Securities Litigation & White Collar Defense Group, commented, “The expansion of our securities and shareholder litigation team better enables us to serve our clients, both in New York – where litigation and enforcement activity in this area is intense – as well as nationally. Brian’s practice is national in scope, taking him to courts across the country, and I am delighted that he will be part of the team in our New York office.”

On January 29, 2015, Pastuszenski will be chairing and speaking at Securities and Shareholder Litigation 2015: Cutting-Edge Developments, Planning and Strategy, an advanced conference sponsored by the American Law Institute. Topics will include the Supreme Court's latest decisions and current developments in federal and state securities and shareholder litigation and government enforcement actions.
