Dr. Gustafson has more than 10 years of experience assisting clients in developing patent strategy, including patent portfolio development and intellectual property landscape analysis. Dr. Gustafson has experience advising investors on intellectual property issues relating to public and private financing and other transactions. She has assisted clients in obtaining patent protection for biologics, including therapeutic antibodies; pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals; fluorescence imaging technologies; protein and nucleic acid diagnostics; DNA amplification and sequencing technologies; and nerve grafts. Dr. Gustafson has worked with various clients, including VisEn Medical, Ensemble Therapeutics Corporation, Aegerion Pharmaceuticals, Exact Biosciences, Sevion Therapeutics, AxoGen, and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Gustafson is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association.
Dr. Gustafson has practiced law in Massachusetts and Tennessee. Prior to joining Goodwin, Dr. Gustafson was a technology specialist in the Boston office of K&L Gates. Prior to her legal career, Dr. Gustafson earned her doctorate at MIT in the laboratory of Nobel laureate Bob Horvitz, where she studied serotonin and neuropeptide signaling.
