Haitian Heritage Month (HHM), founded in Boston in 1998, is an outgrowth of the annual Haitian Flag Day celebrations that take place in Haiti on May 18 each year, commemorating the Haitian Diaspora. Haitian Americans gather to enjoy rich culture, distinctive art and delicious food, as well as to honor the traditions of Haiti and her people.
Goodwin Talent Acquisition Manager Maureen Mondesir-Mathieu describes how Haitian traditions are built on the foundation of the three Ls: Legliz (church), Lekol (school), and Lakay (home/family life). Hear more from Maureen and her Boston colleagues of Haitian descent describing key aspects of Haitian culture, and their memories of the beautiful island country.
