The Boston Business Journal recognized Goodwin Procter’s leasing group in three categories at its annual Best in Boston Real Estate Awards.
Goodwin partner, Alex Randall, received the office deal of the year award for the firm’s new Boston office currently under construction at 100 Northern Avenue. The complexity of this leasing deal including the assessment of numerous new locations and lengthy lease negotiations set it apart from the competition. In addition to being recognized as a high-profile move for a law firm previously located in Boston’s financial district for 100 years, the project had unique elements as it was closely scrutinized by the Boston Redevelopment Authority, and two normally competing commercial real estate firms partnered to represent the firm.
Randall and Goodwin counsel, Katherine Murphy, were also recognized for the historic renovation deal of the year featuring their work as owner’s counsel at Boston’s 50 Post Office Square. This major renovation project spanned years, eventually turning out a 15 year lease for 410,000 square feet with Brown Brothers Harriman – a fixture in Boston’s financial district since 1844.
Finally, the deal of the year was awarded to 101 Seaport for the Skanska USA – PricewaterhouseCoopers 15 year lease for 333,000 square feet in a 17-story tower in Seaport Square brokered by Goodwin’s leasing team.
