Goodwin Procter attorneys recently advised Nobel Learning Communities, a portfolio company of Leeds Equity Partners, in its sale to Investcorp. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1984, Nobel Learning is a provider of private preschool through high school education in the United States. The company operates a network of 176 schools across 18 states and has an accredited online private school that offers college preparatory programs to students from over 55 countries. With approximately 5,000 teachers and staff and 25,000 students, Nobel Learning is one of the largest private operators in the country.
Leeds Equity Partners, based in New York City, is the pioneer in private equity investing in the knowledge sector, which includes the education, training, business services, and information services and software industries. Founded in 1993, Leeds Equity has deployed over $2.6 billion of capital in investments across the knowledge sector spectrum and its portfolio of investments collectively generates more than $3 billion of revenue annually and employs more than 30,000 people.
Investcorp is a provider and manager of alternative investment products and is publicly traded on the Bahrain Bourse (INVCORP). The Investcorp Group has offices in New York, London, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi. Investcorp’s three business areas are: corporate investment in the US, Europe and the Gulf, real estate investment in the US and global hedge funds.
