Goodwin has launched an Employment practice in the U.K. with the hire of Alex Fisher. Oliver Glynn-Jones, the head of the U.K. Litigation practice, told Law360 that the types of disputes the firm handles are multifaceted and often involve employment angles. One type of dispute might involve the founders of a private equity business, for example, and that can sometimes lead to exits and other employment issues alongside mainstream litigation, Glynn-Jones said. "It was obvious that this was a part of the business that we required," Glynn-Jones said of the firm's decision to hire an employment specialist. "The employment world is seeing more and more workplace investigations, which are high-profile and bet-the-company matters," Fisher said. "So you're in front of the boards, because people are looking at workplace culture and whistleblowing complaints." More and more law firms are being invited to run those investigations now and that will create more work for Goodwin, Fisher added.
