Managing IP has named Goodwin partners Naomi Birbach, Alicia Palladino and Alexandra Valenti Rising Stars in IP for 2025. Managing IP’s Rising Stars list recognizes the best up-and-coming intellectual property practitioners in private practice who have made significant contributions to the success of their firm and clients over the last year.
Naomi is a partner in Goodwin’s Intellectual Property Litigation group. Naomi represents life sciences and technology companies in intellectual property disputes, with a particular emphasis on patent litigation. Naomi has significant trial experience, having tried numerous cases to juries and judges in district courts across the country and before the International Trade Commission (ITC). She also represents clients before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) in post-grant proceedings such as inter partes reviews (IPRs).
This is Naomi’s fifth consecutive year being recognized as a Rising Star by Managing IP. She has previously been recognized for her work by The Legal 500 United States, The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch, and Benchmark Litigation’s 40 & Under List.
Alicia is a partner in Goodwin’s Life Sciences group. She holds a PhD in biomedical science, and leverages her scientific expertise to prosecute patents globally, in areas including pharmaceutical sciences, nutraceuticals, biologics, cell and gene therapies, dermatological compositions, and cosmetics. Alicia works closely with early stage companies to enhance the value of their IP portfolios by advising on regulatory data protection, marketing exclusivity, and trade secrets. She also provides strategic counsel on IP matters and internal IP due diligence, and conducts IP reviews and audits for pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and medical device companies in preparation for partnering, financing, and public offerings.
This is Alicia’s fourth consecutive year being recognized as a Managing IP Rising Star. In addition to this honor, Alicia has held various leadership positions at a myriad of professional organizations. She is an active member of Women in Bio and has recently been selected to the 2025 Cohort of their Boardroom Ready Program, and is the former Chair of the Board of Trustees of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.
Alexandra is a partner in Goodwin’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice. An experienced litigator who focuses her practice on intellectual property and commercial matters across a variety of innovative industries, she is a core member of the firm’s renowned life sciences litigation team. As a seasoned trial lawyer, Alexandra has notched key victories in jury and bench trials throughout her career. She also has extensive experience in arbitrations arising from licensing and related commercial agreements, and is co-chair of the firm’s Life Sciences & Technology Arbitrations practice.
This is Alexandra’s fifth year being recognized as a Managing IP Rising Star. Her previous honors include Benchmark Litigation’s 40 & Under List, The Legal 500 United States, and the IAM Patent 1000.
