Goodwin Wins Financials Deal of the Year at the 2026 Turnaround Awards

The M&A Advisor has named Goodwin a winner in Financials Deal of the Year in the Sector Award Category for the Chapter 11 Restructuring of Charter School Capital (“CSC”) in the publication’s 20th Annual Turnaround Awards.

Goodwin’s full-service, global Financial Restructuring team represents debtors and all types of creditors — including official committees of unsecured creditors, asset purchasers, and sponsors — in chapter 11 cases, company administration proceedings, distressed M&A transactions and in- or out-of-court sale processes, state law insolvency proceedings, and workout or liability management transactions.

The firm was recognized for its significant work as the lead restructuring advisor to CSC in its bankruptcy proceeding in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, following an adverse arbitration award that led to a free-fall bankruptcy.

CSC provides funding and related services to charter schools nationwide and helps charter schools finance the acquisition and improvement of real estate, provides working capital solutions through receivables financing, and provides enrollment marketing services. The Goodwin team advising CSC was led by Howard Steel, Stacy Dasaro, Kizzy Jarashow, James Lathrop, and Hayes Hyde.

“This year’s winners were selected by a distinguished panel of their peers and represent the highest standards of excellence in the restructuring and corporate finance profession,” said Roger Aguinaldo, Founder and CEO of The M&A Advisor.

Now in its 28th year, The M&A Advisor recognizes the world’s premier leadership organization for professionals, investors and executives across mergers & acquisitions, restructuring, and corporate finance.

The awards will be presented during the 2026 Distressed Investing Summit on March 23rd and 24th in Palm Beach, Florida.
