Goodwin Advises Pennant on $5 Million Seed Financing Led by Urban Innovation Fund
Goodwin’s Technology team advised Pennant, an AI-native platform for proxy voting and governance intelligence, on its $5 million seed financing. The round was led by Urban Innovation Fund, with participation from Y Combinator and strategic angel investors with current and former affiliations at Marvell Technology, Legal & General, OpenAI, Kirkland & Ellis, and NVIDIA.
Founded by Ryan Nowicki Stewart and Tomas Taylor, Pennant is building the world model for corporate governance, starting with proxy voting. The New York-based company connects institutional research, voting policies, and historical decisions to help investors exercise independent judgment at scale. Its clients include US pension funds, institutional asset managers, and leading governance and legal advisors.
Pennant participated in Y Combinator’s 2026 summer batch and was previously selected for the Palantir Startup Fellowship. The financing will support the company’s continued product development and expansion across institutional investors and public companies.
The Goodwin team included Craig Schmitz, Carson Williams, Ora Grinberg, Kevin Lam, and Selin Deldag.
