Talc Litigation Seminar

November 12, 2019 | 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Goodwin Boston Office, 100 Northern Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts

Summary

Goodwin and CMBG3 Law LLC are pleased to co-host a half-day talc litigation seminar for companies and insurers in the talc litigation on the afternoon of November 12, timed to coincide with the DRI Asbestos Medicine Seminar in Boston that same week.

Our seminar will feature Dr. Ania Urban, a Supervising Health Scientist with Cardno ChemRisk, who is a published author on talc and has served as a consulting expert witness in talc litigation. We will address the most recent events in talc litigation.

The presenters will provide nuanced insights into the following topics:

  • Kendra Bergeron, Shareholder and Founder of CMBG3 Law LLC, will address the FDA’s recent attempts to gain more regulatory control over talc products, and the implications of Johnson & Johnson’s recall.

  • Dr. Ania Urban holds a Ph.D. in Toxicology and a Master of Public Heath in Environmental Health Sciences. Dr. Urban will discuss the recent research and developments on the alleged link between talc and ovarian cancer and the evolving talc-related asbestos exposure mesothelioma claims from the scientific and medical perspective.

  • Richard Oetheimer, a Partner in Goodwin’s Litigation Department with decades of experience in asbestos litigation, will address the evolution of the regulatory definitions of asbestos and their use and misuse in talc litigation.

  • William Jay, Co-Chair of Goodwin’s Appellate Practice and a noted Supreme Court advocate, will discuss the results and implications of recent talc appeals and will address the need to preserve objections at trial, including the too often overlooked value that appellate counsel can add in the courtroom at trial, from voir dire through verdict.

  • Jeniffer Carson, Managing Partner of CMBG3 Law LLC, will address contamination of the jury pool by social media and major media broadcasts, and the need to explore bias in voir dire.
We hope you will join us.
