Law.com has named Goodwin partner Sarah Michel to its list of Rising Stars: Europe's Best Up-and-Coming Female Lawyers for 2021. The list highlights the next generation of leaders who are advancing gender parity and have already made their mark as mentors and role models across the profession.
Michel is a partner in Goodwin’s Private Equity group and a member of the Private Investment Funds practice in Paris. She represents many of the most prominent and leading French and European investment funds on all aspects of their fund business including fund formation and structuring, carried-interest schemes for management teams, structuring co-investments, reorganizations and restructurings. She also assists French and European clients with respect to their regulatory issues, and advises private investment funds across a wide variety of strategies: buyout funds, venture/tech funds, real estate funds, infrastructure funds, fund of funds, mezzanine funds, debt funds, and distressed funds.
Law.com highlighted Michel’s work with Antin Infrastructure Partners on the closing of its fourth fund, Antin IV, which closed with total commitments of €6.5 billion. The oversubscribed fund was one of the largest to hold a final closing during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also noted Michel’s commitment to Women@Goodwin, an affinity group that seeks to attract, retain, develop and advance women at all stages of their career.
Winners were selected through a rigorous evaluation process that focused on the quality of their client base; examples of driving forward the size or reputation of their practice area; the scale, significance and complexity of their cases; their client feedback and general market reputation; the standing of their mentor; and other examples of career success and innovation.
