Goodwin partner Aly Simons has been included on Mergers & Acquisitions’ seventh annual list of Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A. This year Mergers & Acquisitions recognized successful dealmakers who demonstrate “leadership both inside and outside of their firms, a focus on critical issues important to their clients, and a commitment to give back as role models and mentors.”
Simons is co-chair of the Technology M&A practice at Goodwin, which has been recognized by Refinitiv as the number one law firm for global M&A by deal count in 2021. She brings particular expertise to international and domestic M&A transactions for both private and public companies in verticals including the gaming, cybersecurity, SaaS, healthcare tech and adtech/martech subsectors. Coaching boards, executives and investors through the M&A process, she most recently worked with Digit in connection with its $212 million acquisition by Oportun, Portworx in its $370 million acquisition by Pure Storage, Innovium on its acquisition by Marvell Technology for $1.1 billion, Segment.io in its $3.2 billion acquisition by Twilio, and Datavant in its combination with CIOX at a transaction value of $7 billion.
Committed to enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion within the firm and across the corporate landscape, Simons sits on the advisory board and leads the firm’s relationship with Him For Her, a non-profit organization that aims to accelerate diversity on corporate boards. Him For Her’s focus is on identifying talented women who are ready for board service, and then building the connections and partnerships necessary to bridge the network gap responsible for the lack of women in the boardroom.
Simons also serves as co-chair of the San Francisco chapter of Women@Goodwin, which is a firmwide affinity group dedicated to recruiting, retaining and advancing women throughout all stages of their career. As part of her leadership role, Simons mentors numerous young lawyers in the M&A arena, and participates in events and trainings designed to ensure that the next generation of female lawyers have the resources necessary to succeed.
