“I’m thrilled that our partners elected Jeff to lead the firm’s litigation department, which is among the most talented in the industry,” said David M. In his new and expanded role, he will focus on refining and executing on a strong strategic vision in an evolving litigation market.”

In addition to a wide ranging business litigation practice, Simes maintains an active pro bono practice, with a particular focus on education, homelessness and poverty issues. His dedication to improving the communities in which we work and live has been recognized by the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar and the Legal Aid Society.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jeff was a public school teacher in Brooklyn and a charter corps member of Teach for America. He earned his J.D. and M.P.P. degrees from Harvard Law School and Harvard Kennedy School, and his B.A. from Yale University.

Simes succeeds Mark E. Tully, who completed his term at the end of September and has dedicated more than a decade of leadership to Goodwin’s Litigation Department, including serving as its Chair for the past five years.

“We are indebted to Mark for his years of steadfast leadership,” said Robert S. Insolia, Managing Partner of Goodwin Procter. “His business acumen, hands-on approach and energetic leadership have allowed us to expand our litigation capabilities across the firm, and he has played an influential role in Goodwin’s success.”
