Goodwin's Intellectual Property Practice was recently named one of Law360's IP Practice Groups of the Year for the third consecutive year, recognized for its many accomplishments and successfully argued cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, Federal Circuit, throughout the federal district courts and before the PTAB.
IP litigation chair Douglas Kline is quoted in the Law360 article, saying, “Some of our clients can afford to wage war, if you will, and we’re pleased to represent them in those efforts and we’ve got a good track record of getting great results for them,” he said. “But we’ve got a lot of clients, and for some that’s not in their business plan and litigation is just getting in the way of them trying to achieve their goals and implement their strategies.”
Law360 commended Goodwin on helping convince the Federal Circuit that inter partes reviews are constitutional and on its successful bid in front of the Federal Circuit to uphold a favorable ruling for Teva Pharmaceuticals USA Inc., in a patent case involving the nearly $1 billion market for generic Lovenox.
Goodwin's Appellate Litigation Practice co-chair William Jay is also quoted, commenting on the yet-to-be-decided cheerleading uniform copyright case. The decision is being closely watched by copyright lawyers and fashion companies.
