The National Law Journal named partners David Cappillo to its 2018 M&A and Antitrust Trailblazers list. The award recognizes lawyers who continue to make their mark in various aspects of legal work in the areas of deal making, restructuring and strategic planning.
Cappillo, a partner in Goodwin’s Technology Companies and Mergers and Acquisitions practices, was recognized for his pioneering spirit and extensive experience advising high-growth technology companies. Cappillo stated he has always had a penchant for working with emerging technology companies, and going deep with his clients: “M&A for most of my clients represents the culmination of all their key decisions, hard work and operational execution. I compare it to a final exam. Most of my clients end up getting bought by big, sophisticated tech buyers, and I enjoy helping them prepare for that final exam.”
A Chair of Goodwin’s Washington, D.C. office and Co-Chair of its Antitrust & Competition practice, was recognized for her work at both the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Department of Justice (DOJ). She noted antitrust is at a particularly interesting moment. “Attorneys general, the FTC, DOJ and international enforcement authorities are so comprehensive. Public policy is getting interjected. It’s harder to know what the outcome will be, but there is more room for creativity. That makes my job so much more interesting.
