The China Business Law Journal has honored Goodwin with three China Business Law Awards for 2021. The annual awards noted the firm’s accomplishments in the following categories:

  • Private Equity & Venture Capital
  • Healthcare, Pharma & Life Sciences
  • Consumer & Retail

The China Business Law Journal praised Goodwin’s Life Sciences practice for their work on “some significant deals, from financing, M&A, and capital markets, to collaborations and licensing.” They highlighted the Goodwin teams, led by Wenseng “Wendy” Pan, which represented Apollomics in its $124.2 million Series C financing led by Ping An Capital, and Impact Therapeutics in forming a joint venture with Junshi Biosciences in China to develop and commercialize a PARP inhibitor for the treatment of cancers in Greater China.

These awards build on the success of the firm’s Hong Kong-based Asia practice. Among their recent high-profile deals, a Private Equity and Life Sciences team led by Yash Rana, Abhishek Krishnan and Kingsley Taft advised Hillhouse Capital on its investment in Everest Medicines as a co-lead investor in Everest Medicine’s Series C financing of $310 million. Another Private Equity and Life Sciences team led by Yash Rana, Chi Pan and Kingsley Taft advised Hillhouse on leading a consortium of institutional investors that entered into definitive subscription agreements with I-Mab (Nasdaq: IMAB) to raise $418 million through a private placement. Additionally, a cross-border team led by Douglas Freeman, Victor Chen and Carl Bradshaw, Simon Thomas and Gretchen Scott in London advised LionRock Capital on its acquisition of a majority stake in leading UK shoe manufacturer and retailer Clarks.

Goodwin was named the 2021 M&A Firm of the Year for Medium-Sized Deals Under $500 Million by the Asia Legal Awards, and recognized by the India Law Journal for Deals of the Year in Private Equity & Venture Capital. Goodwin was also highly ranked across practices by Chambers Asia-Pacific 2021, Chambers Global 2021 and The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific 2021.
