Financial News has named partner and Goodwin UK Co-Chair Ajay Pathak to its 2025 list of the Fifty Most Influential Lawyers in Europe.

Ajay is a partner in Goodwin’s Private Equity group, where his practice focuses on the establishment, management and regulation of private equity funds, venture funds, credit funds, infrastructure funds, hedge funds, and other alternative investment funds. Throughout his career, he has established a number of funds, managed accounts, and other bespoke investment structures, including open-ended and hybrid structures, across a range of asset classes, and worked with clients including Abingworth, LGT, Macquarie and UBS.

Financial News highlighted Ajay’s recent accomplishments, which includes leading teams advising Plural on the structuring and fundraising for its second venture capital fund, raising €500 million to become one of the largest venture capital fundraisings in Europe in 2024. He also worked with LGT Capital Partners on establishing its third European credit fund, Crown European Private Debt fund III, with a target size of €1.8 billion.

Financial News also noted Ajay’s key role in growing the Goodwin team to more than 75 lawyers across Europe, making it one of the largest specialist fund formation groups on the continent. As Goodwin UK Co-Chair, he oversees nearly 200 lawyers across London and Cambridge, and the firm is considered to be one of the fastest growing international firms in London.

In addition to this honor, Ajay has been ranked as a leader by the major UK legal directories. He has been named a Leading Partner in Private Funds by The Legal 500 UK for several years, with clients describing him as a “standout star” and someone whose “commerciality is second to none” and who is “pragmatic and strikes the right balance between technical excellence and finding the right fit for the client.” He has also been highly ranked for Funds work by Chambers UK, Chambers Europe, and IFLR1000.
