Freddie Akrouche is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Industry group. Freddie represents institutional investors, real estate funds, public companies and owner/operators in the real estate space. His representation focuses on complex real estate client consultation, including sophisticated joint ventures, restructurings and recapitalizations, mortgage, construction and mezzanine financings and workouts, and asset-level and entity-level acquisitions and dispositions. Freddie also advises commercial real estate investment managers in structuring investment vehicles for real estate investment funds and investor accounts.

  • Counsel to an internationally recognized private real estate fund sponsor in structuring over $6 billion in equity investments across recapitalizations, joint ventures, and co-investment vehicles. Represented the sponsor in transactions with both U.S. and global institutional investors in forming partnerships through varying structures with operators across asset classes including retail, industrial, hospitality and leisure and medical office
  • Represent a leading global real estate investment manager in connection with secondary investments recapitalizations, joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, and complex financings, including:
    • Representation with respect to a programmatic joint venture for the nationwide acquisition of large-scale student housing assets
    • Recapitalization and minority interest sale of a Class A Manhattan office tower, including a $750 million refinancing and joint venture with a sovereign wealth fund
    • Equity and debt restructuring of an eight-asset Class A office portfolio in Washington, D.C., valued at over $700 million
    • Mortgage and equity-pledged refinancing of national industrial portfolios valued at over $5 billion
    • Sale of a series of large-scale industrial portfolios exceeding $1.5 billion in aggregate value
  • Represent a leading global real estate investment manager in connection with negotiating a series of mortgage financing workouts on behalf of Borrower including facilitating various deed-in-lieu and lender-direct sale transactions
  • Counsel to internationally recognized private real estate fund sponsor in structuring investments into operational real estate platforms, including national hospitality and leisure park businesses
  • Represent a nationally prominent real estate investment manager in the structuring and negotiation of development joint ventures across life sciences, multifamily, single-family residential, and mixed-use projects with an aggregate value exceeding $4.5 billion
  • Represent a nationally prominent real estate investment manager in structuring co-investment vehicles with international and domestic capital partners for multifamily and industrial development projects across the United States
  • Advised on the formation of multiple private real estate funds focused on multifamily acquisitions in the U.S. Northeast, including REIT-compliant investment structures and fund-level acquisitions and dispositions through the sale of REIT shares exceeding $750 million in value
