Anuj Ghai is an associate in Goodwin’s Antitrust and Competition practice. He represents international companies before the European Commission and the UK's Competition and Markets Authority in a wide range of competition law matters, in particular merger control, antitrust litigation, and antitrust compliance. He has extensive experience assisting clients in obtaining UK, EU, and foreign merger and foreign investment clearances for their transactions. His experience covers several industry sectors including technology, financial services, life science, insurance, packaging and retail. In addition to his merger control experience, Anuj has developed significant experience advising clients on a range of other antitrust-related matters including: behavioral investigations, market investigations, and antitrust compliance.

Prior to joining Goodwin, Anuj practiced at Latham & Watkins LLP in Brussels and London.

Anuj’s representative experience includes advising:

  • iRobot Corporation in its proposed acquisition by Amazon.com, Inc. for approximately $1.7 billion
  • Globus Medical in its definitive agreement with NUVASIVE to combine in an all-stock transaction
  • Ritchie Bros. Incorporated on its definitive agreement to acquire IAA, Inc.
  • Hines on its joint venture with funds managed by Apollo Global Management, Inc. and Italian real estate company VI-BA S.r.L. to acquire Aedes SIIQ.
  • A consortium of investors comprised of IK Partners, Keensight Capital, Parquest Capital and GIC in the signing of an exclusivity agreement regarding the acquisition of the Unither group, a European pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization.
  • Meta (formerly Facebook) in its acquisition of GIPHY and related UK litigation before the Competition Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal*
  • iZettle on the CMA’s Phase 2 investigation into its acquisition by PayPal Holdings
  • Electro Rent Corporation and Platinum Equity on the CMA’s Phase 2 investigation into its acquisition of Microlease, Inc and related UK litigation before the Competition Appeal Tribunal
  • Scottish Power on UK merger control and regulatory matters in relation to its sale of energy assets to Drax*
  • Authentic Brands Group on merger control matters in relation to its acquisition of Reebok from Adidas*
  • Rowan Companies on the CMA’s Phase 1 investigation into its merger with Ensco*
  • GTCR on the CMA’s Phase 1 investigation into its acquisition of Gorkana*
  • Thomas Cook Group on merger control matters in relation to its re-financing and the proposed sale of its airline and ultimately its attempted recapitalization*
  • EIG-led consortium on merger control matters in relation to its acquisition of a 49% stake in Aramco Oil Pipelines from Saudi Aramco*
  • Broadcom Limited on EU and RoW merger control matters in relation to its acquisition of Brocade Communications Systems*
  • SIG Combibloc on merger control matters in relation to its ownership acquisition of its Middle East & Africa joint venture with Obeikan Investment Group*
  • RPC Group on the European Commission’s Phase 1 investigation into its joint acquisition of British Polythene Industries*
