Goodwin Named to National Law Journal's 2019 Appellate Hot List

Professionals

The National Law Journal has named Goodwin to its 2019 Appellate Hot List. The annual list honors firms who have “won key matters before the U.S. Supreme Court and federal courts of appeals, staying true to their practice philosophies along the way.”

Over the past year, Goodwin’s Appellate Litigation practice has been involved with appeals in the Supreme Court along with every federal court of appeals and several state appellate courts. Our appellate lawyers also litigate and win appeals from federal agencies, which can be brought in appeals courts and district courts.

Notable recent matters include a landmark U.S. Supreme Court patent victory in Helsinn Healthcare S.A. v. Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. and a Supreme Court win in Pereira v. Sessions that had national implications for immigration policy. The appellate litigation team has also obtained two appellate victories on behalf of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, won a significant Second Circuit case for bar exam prep course provider BarBri, Inc., defeated a class action brought against client Citizens Bank for their overdraft fee program and prevailed in a significant mining industry case before the D.C. Circuit.
