Goodwin Adds Private Investment Funds Partner David Wagner

Global law firm Goodwin today announced that David Wagner rejoined the firm’s Private Investment Funds practice as partner, resident in the New York office. Wagner began his legal career at Goodwin as an associate in 2004 and was with the firm until 2018 before spending time at another law firm. He is the sixth Private Investment Funds partner to join the firm globally this year, following the arrivals of Michael Aluko and Karen Chao in New York, Sebastian Bruchwitz in Frankfurt.

“Dave is an exceptional lawyer with the perfect range of experience to support our diverse client base,” said Paul Verbesey, co-chair of Goodwin’s Private Investment Funds practice. “As our funds clients around the world continue to raise and invest record amounts of capital, we’re thrilled to welcome Dave back to the firm.”

Wagner focuses on the organization, structuring, and ongoing management of domestic and international private equity investment funds, joint ventures, separate accounts, co-investments, secondary offerings, and other structures across a variety of asset classes, including real estate, infrastructure, buyout, growth, and venture. Wagner also advises on operational, compensation, and regulatory matters, including internal GP arrangements, credit facilities, and securities-related matters.

Goodwin’s 150+ lawyer Private Investment Funds practice supports over 500 investment managers raising capital to invest in the private equity, real estate, technology, and life sciences sectors. In the past 18 months, the practice closed more than 60 funds totaling over $200 billion in raised capital. The firm was recently named the top law firm for fund formation by Law360, the Legal 500 UK Awards, IJ Global, and SuperReturn Awards.
