Raymond Fang is an associate in Goodwin’s Real Estate Industry group. Mr. Fang is a corporate/transactional lawyer with a recent focus on UK and Pan European real estate M&A, investments, and joint ventures, acting for international and domestic private equity, institutional, listed and private clients. Mr. Fang is experienced executing UK and cross-border private M&A transactions, from corporate structures owning a trophy single RE asset to large multi-jurisdiction portfolios, and including operational assets/businesses across the Real Assets spectrum.





  • Advised Kennedy Wilson Europe (part of the NYSE-listed Kennedy Wilson group) on its joint venture arrangements with AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets pursuant to which AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets acquired a 50% interest in three individual/segregated property owning sub-funds of an Irish regulated qualified alternative investment fund holding company, which ultimately owns the mixed-use campus, Capital Dock (one of the largest, single-phase developments built in Ireland), and the adjoining State Street building.
  • Advised US-based real estate management and advisory firm GreenOak Real Estate on its co-investment and joint venture arrangements in relation to the acquisition of a substantial portfolio of German logistics assets.
  • Advised a NYSE-listed REIT on its acquisition of a 46% stake in a Swiss company, which owns Swiss healthcare real estate assets valued at c.$900 million.
  • Advised a HK-listed real estate company on its leveraged acquisition of the corporate structure owning London’s iconic “Cheesegrater” building for c.£1.15 billion, one of the largest ever single-asset transactions in the UK (Estates Gazette deal team winner 2017).*
  • Advised a US private equity fund on various disposals, including the sale of the Pure Student Living student accommodation portfolio, consisting of 2,170 rooms across five prime London sites, for c.£532 million.*
  • Advised a UK-listed REIT on its purchase of all the units in various Jersey Property Unit Trusts ultimately holding freehold and long leasehold interests in 114 leased hotel sites for an aggregate value of c.£400 million.* 
  • Advised a UK-listed REIT on the acquisition of: (a) a Jersey and Delaware corporate structure ultimately owning a portfolio of 25 multi-let industrial assets located across the UK (approximately 2 million sq. ft.), for c.£127 million; and (b) a real estate investment and asset management platform that serviced the portfolio, as well as various European and UK disposals of non-core assets.*
  • Advised Tishman Speyer on the corporate sale of Verde Building (being a fully let 318,000 sq. ft. Central London office and retail block).*
  • Advised a Taiwanese life insurance company on its £320 million debut London purchase of the corporate structure owning Woolgate Exchange, and its £575 million acquisition of the corporate structure owning the Walbrook Building in UK’s biggest single-asset deal of 2016.*
  • Advised a UK arm of global real estate investment, development and management firm on both buy- and sell-side for deals worth c.£600 million , including in relation to various central London assets, and a landmark 319,000 sq. ft. Birmingham office and retail building.* 
  • Advised a US hedge fund on its acquisition of a corporate structure owning a portfolio of self-storage facilities, and its subsequent disposal of the same portfolio, and various other corporate real estate disposals.*
  • Advised a UK-headquartered PE RE asset management firm on various matters, including: (a) its JV with a developer and operator of a student accommodation portfolio relating to eight UK sites; (b) its proposed acquisition of a landlord of approximately 300 sites leased to one tenant (via an equity and distressed debt acquisition/refinance arrangement); and (c) its disposal of the 6 Mitre Passage office building in Greenwich.*
  • Advised a UK-listed hospitality company on its acquisition of all the shares in the statutory holding company that owns the iconic Brighton Pier pleasure pier and business in a reverse takeover under UK’s AIM Rules. The deal was funded by a mix of fresh equity and debt.* 
  • Advised a Chinese insurance company on its proposed acquisition of a significant London single asset (via a corporate wrapper) for c.£700 million.*
