India Business Law Journal’s 2021 Report Names Goodwin a Key Player in India

For the thirteenth consecutive year, Goodwin has been named a leading international firm for India-related work by the India Business Law Journal (IBLJ). The latest edition of the annual report highlights law firms around the world that have engaged in significant transactions and cases with a connection to India. Goodwin has been ranked every year since the Hong Kong office opened in 2008.

IBLJ lists Goodwin in its “Key Players” category, noting that the firm is a “private equity presence” regularly advising on “investments in India, especially in the new economy sectors.” Clients praised Goodwin for providing “excellent service with timely turnaround, deep subject matter understanding and commercially oriented advice.”

Specifically, IBLJ highlighted Goodwin representing Lone Pine Capital on its series I investment into Pine Labs; four international private equity funds in their series F investments in BYJU’s; Coatue Management on its $50 million and $26.5 million series E investments in Rebel Foods; and GSV Ventures Management in its $30 million series D investment in Indian educational technology company Lead School.

Goodwin’s India practice is led by Asia Chair Yash Rana and partners Abhishek Krishnan and Greg Barclay. Other key members include Ananth Lakshman, Asmita Mishra and Manish Ranjan, and the practice includes over 30 lawyers across Goodwin’s offices.

IBLJ’s analysis was based on rigorous research, editorial experience and intensive consultation with leading corporate counsel and Indian law firms. IBLJ has previously recognized Goodwin’s success with two 2020 Deals of the Year awards in the Private Equity & Venture Capital category.
