Goodwin Wins Impact Case of Year at the 2026 Managing IP Americas Awards

Goodwin’s Intellectual Property Litigation group was honored at the Managing IP Americas Awards ceremony on April 9. Now in its 21st year, the annual awards recognize significant achievements in intellectual property over the past year and are based on independent research as well as interviews with notable clients and IP practitioners.

Goodwin won Impact Case of the Year for securing a $452 million jury verdict for Insulet Corporation — one of the largest trade secret verdicts in recent years — in a misappropriation case against EOFlow, its CEO, and three former Insulet executives (Insulet Corporation v. EOFlow Co., Ltd., et al).

The jury found EOFlow and its CEO willfully misappropriated four Insulet trade secrets and awarded Insulet $452 million in total compensatory and punitive damages. Following the jury verdict, Goodwin secured a complete victory for Insulet in April 2025, with the District of Massachusetts issuing favorable rulings on the parties’ post-trial motions. The Court granted Insulet’s motion for a permanent injunction, awarding Insulet $60 million in damages and imposing a permanent injunction prohibiting Defendants from using or disclosing Insulet’s trade secrets worldwide.

The Goodwin team was led by Robert Carroll, Robert Frederickson, and Alexandra Valenti with assistance from Alexandra Lu, Scott Bluni, James Breen, Timothy Keegan, William Evans, Matthew Ginther, Arsh Raince and Danit Maor; paralegal help from Albert Lessard and Alison Fitzgerald, and case assistance from Sophie Scola.

In addition, Managing IP shortlisted Goodwin for Firm of the Year Nationwide – Life Sciences IP Litigation and Firm of the Year Nationwide – Trade Secrets. Goodwin partner Lori Gordon was also shortlisted for Practitioner of the Year (PTAB) and partner Robert Carroll for Patent Litigator – Massachusetts.

These results demonstrate how Goodwin’s IP litigators win the toughest, highest-stakes cases in the country — delivering courtroom victories that shape industries in technology and life sciences. From jury trials and Federal Circuit appeals to Section 337 investigations and PTAB proceedings, the team consistently achieves results that protect innovation and redefine market competition.
