India Business Law Journal Names Goodwin a Key Player in India

For the twelfth consecutive year, Goodwin has been named a leading international firm for India-related work by the India Business Law Journal (IBLJ). The latest edition of the annual report highlights law firms around the world that have engaged in significant transactions and cases with a connection to India. Goodwin has been ranked every year since the Hong Kong office opened in 2008.

The IBLJ lists Goodwin in its “Key Players” category, noting that the firm possesses many years of experience and a “core focus” on private equity and fund formation matters. Specifically, IBLJ highlighted Goodwin’s representation of several international private equity funds in the $1 billion series H financing and $156 million series I financing in Swiggy and the $585 million series D financing in Udaan, as well as the formation of A91 Partners’ inaugural growth capital fund which was awarded the AVCJ 2019 Fundraising of the Year. It also praised the work of Hong Kong chair Yash Rana, partners Gregory Barclay and Abhishek Krishnan, and lawyers Ananth Lakshman, Manish Ranjan, and Asmita Mishra

IBLJ’s analysis was based on rigorous research, editorial experience and intensive consultation with leading corporate counsel and Indian law firms. The IBLJ has previously awarded Goodwin the 2019 Deal of the Year for its representation of international private equity firms in their investments in Swiggy, and named Rana to its 2020 International A-List, which profiles the top India-focused legal experts.
