World Trademark Review recognized Goodwin’s Intellectual Property practice and partners Jessica Rothstein and Robert Carroll in the 2021 edition of WTR 1000: The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals, an annual list of the world’s top law firms and practitioners offering high-level advice on issues relating to trademarks. This is the sixth consecutive year Goodwin has received recognition, as the firm’s versatility and client-focused approach have made it a global leader in the trademark industry.

The guide highly ranked Goodwin in Massachusetts, calling the firm’s lawyers “rigorous, tenacious and commercially savvy” professionals who “always bring their A-game.” This type of representation has resulted in “a stellar track record in litigation – which includes four IP wins at the Supreme Court in the past five years,” establishing Goodwin as “a discerning choice for high-stakes lawsuits.”

Additionally, WTR 1000 recognized the firm’s New York team for excellence in Enforcement and Litigation and Prosecution and Strategy matters, noting that Goodwin is well-known for its ability to “find ways to prevail in the toughest and most consequential disputes” in the patent and trademark space. It added that Goodwin “litigators are comfortable going the distance and have a sterling track record.”

Goodwin lawyers also stood out in the rankings, as Carroll was recognized in Massachusetts for his accomplishments in Enforcement and Litigation. In New York, Rothstein was recognized for her expertise in Enforcement and Litigation and Prosecution and Strategy.

Now in its eleventh year, the WTR 1000 is the preeminent research directory for trademark practices and practitioners. Rankings are based on an exhaustive qualitative research project to identify the firms and individuals that are deemed outstanding in this critical area of practice. When identifying the leading firms, factors such as depth of expertise, market presence and the level of work on which they are typically instructed were all taken into account, alongside positive peer and client feedback.
