Goodwin Expands Antitrust & Competition Practice into Europe with London Partner Sarah Jordan

Global law firm Goodwin announced today that it has extended its leading Antitrust & Competition practice into Europe with the addition of partner Sarah Jordan, resident in the London office. Jordan will join upon completion of her notice period.

“As we help clients navigate their strategic global transactions and potential challenges in a heightened regulatory environment, we are delighted that Sarah is joining us to launch our European antitrust and foreign investment platform,” said Gemma Roberts, co-chair of Goodwin’s London office. “Antitrust is a key strategic area of expansion for the firm, which is why we’ve grown the practice globally so much over the last 12 months. We believe Sarah will be an exceptional addition to the team as we collaborate with our market-leading M&A, private equity, life sciences, technology and real estate industry practices.”

Dual qualified to practice in both England & Wales and Belgium, Jordan has a broad range of experience advising on European and UK competition law matters, particularly in the field of EU and UK merger control, and coordinating merger control proceedings worldwide. She has also been engaged in a number of conduct matters, including transatlantic cartel investigations, advising on dawn raid procedures and conducting antitrust audits, and acting on cases before the EC and the European Courts. She advises clients in a range of industries including private equity, technology, automotive and pharmaceuticals.

Jordan is recognized for her work in The Legal 500 UK 2021 as a Leading Individual in EU and Competition law. Her arrival follows the joining in 2021 of Antitrust & Competition partners Andrew Lacy, in Washington, D.C., and Arman Oruc in Los Angeles.

Goodwin was recently named the number one legal advisor (by deal count) for Global and U.S. M&A deals for Q4 2021 by Refinitiv, having previously been named the top firm for Global and U.S. M&A in the Q3 and H1 League Tables. This success took place as M&A activity continued to set records throughout 2021. According to Reuters, “global M&A deals have sailed past $4 trillion so far this year, easily breaking past records.” The publication referred to Goodwin as a “dealmaking machine” for its prominent role in the surging market.

Goodwin’s Antitrust and Competition lawyers have advised clients — from the largest Fortune 500 companies to emerging growth companies — on more than 2,500 transactions before US and international antitrust agencies. The team has successfully defended hundreds of matters through the Second Request process and other intensive government investigations. Global Competition Review recently ranked Goodwin’s practice as “Highly Recommended” in the 2022 edition of the GCR 100.
