Goodwin Advises Pictet on Financing of MLase Acquisition by Maxburg

Goodwin has advised Pictet on the financing of the acquisition of MLase AG, a market-leading CDMO of high-quality excimer lasers for medical applications, by funds managed by Maxburg Capital Management GmbH (“Maxburg”). The transaction represents the first deal in Germany by Swiss investment group Pictet, through its recently launched Direct Lending fund.

Maxburg is a management- and partner-owned investment management company headquartered in Munich and focused on the German-speaking region and acquires operationally stable and cash-flow producing SMEs, and since inception in 2014, has completed 24 platform investments across Germany and bordering geographies.

MLase AG, based in Germering, Germany, and founded in 2007, is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-quality laser and light systems. MLase’s products are an integral component of a variety of OEM systems primarily used in medical applications such as refractive eye surgery, angiology, and glaucoma treatment. The innovative solutions are the result of years of experience and the latest advancements in medical, physical, optical, and electrotechnical advancements, making them ideal for demanding applications.
