The Private Equity, Technology, and Life Sciences teams advised Landmark Bio on its acquisition by Artis BioSolutions, a newly launched company dedicated to streamlining the discovery, development, and production of genetic medicines. The acquisition enables Landmark Bio to continue to deliver on its mission of translating groundbreaking research into life-changing therapies, while scaling its capabilities to accelerate development and manufacturing of advanced therapies. As part of Artis, Landmark Bio will continue to operate as a distinct entity, providing critical services in translational research, process development, and manufacturing for clinical and commercial cell and gene therapy products. The acquisition by Artis, supported by initial funding from Oak HC/FT, marks a significant step toward expanding access to high-quality development and manufacturing capabilities across the advanced therapy ecosystem.
Founding members of Landmark Bio include Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cytiva, FUJIFILM Biotechnologies, and Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. Other collaborating institutions include Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital, Mass General Brigham, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Landmark Bio is a collective endeavor launched by leaders from academia, the life sciences industry, and world-renowned research hospitals to accelerate the development and industrialization of novel therapeutics. Inspired by recent advancements in cell and gene therapies, Landmark Bio was established to remove barriers in drug development, create accessible capability, expertise, and solutions, and offer a collaboration platform to advance manufacturing technologies for the new generation of medicines to come.
