Goodwin’s global Private Investment Funds team advised on four successful fund raisings with an aggregate total of $33 billion. The fund raises, announced over the last six weeks, involved the firm’s fund teams across three geographies, the U.S., Europe and Asia, underlining Goodwin’s cross-disciplinary capabilities and international footprint.
The firm’s 100-strong private investment funds team advised:
- Advent International, one of the largest and most experienced global private equity investors, on the completion of its fundraising for Advent International GPEIX Limited Partnership. The fund reached its hard cap of $17.5 billion (€15.6 billion) and surpassed the $16 billion (€14.3 billion) target after six months in the market. The team was led by partners David Watson and James Donohue and included partner Neal Sandford, counsel Mirela Hristova, and associates Evin Luongo, Michelle Kim, Lauren Falkowitz, Joseph Baron, Chris O’Brien, Michael Pickett and John Stern in the U.S., and partners Michael Halford and Laura Charkin, and associates Lydia Galbraith, Michael O’Brien Kelly and Hamel Patel in London.
- TA Associates, a leading global growth private equity firm, on TA XIII, which closed with total commitments of $8.5 billion. The fund, which was over- subscribed, reached its hard cap of $8.5 billion after only 4 months in the market. The team was led by partner Paul Verbesey and included partners James Donohue and Neal Sandford, counsel Mirela Hristova and associates Samara Pals Cramer, David Holland, Lauren Falkowitz, Lynette Elam, Michael Shea, Jessica Taubman and Alexander Plaum. Hong Kong associates Teresa Wong, Manish Ranjan and Dominic Wong also provided support to the Goodwin team.
- Macquarie, a leading global infrastructure investor, on MEIF6, its sixth infrastructure fund which closed at its hard cap of €6 billion – exceeding its target of €5 billion. The team was led by Ed Hall, working with partners Michael Halford, Laura Charkin and Alexandrine Armstrong-Cerfontaine, regulatory counsel Glynn Barwick and associates Simon Marshall, Simon Prosser, Alexandra Finlayson, Lydia Galbraith, Charlotte Haywood, Priya Patel and Oana Millich. The European team were supported by firm’s global network of specialist lawyers including U.S. regulatory and tax.
- Glennmont Partners, a clean energy infrastructure specialist, on the closing of its Fund III, which has raised €850 million to invest in clean energy infrastructure projects in Europe. The team was led by partners Michael Halford, Alexandrine Armstrong-Cerfontaine and Laura Charkin and associates Simon Prosser, Oana Millich and Allison Walsh, with assistance from partners Janet Andolina and Simon Fulbrook, counsel Glynn Barwick and associate Eliza Reed.
